About Us
The path has been twisty as all good business paths, and really life, usually are. Eventually Rob settled on roasting as his niche in the coffee business. He travelled across the United States on a solo journey to find himself, and to find his coffee groove. Sereta fully supported Rob in his new passion. She knew she had been given the opportunity to live her dream through Rob’s hard work and support, and it her turn offer him the same. Together they launched his craft coffee roasting business.
As the business grew, Kate Bierman joined Rob and Sereta on this adventure, bringing complimentary skills, a new perspective, and the ability to take advantage of new business opportunities. In 2019, the team responded to one those opportunities by purchasing Cool Beans, the coffee drive thru on East Alameda Street, and providing locally roasted, ethically sourced coffee to Norman’s east side.
Yellow Dog Coffee Company moved to 222 S. Porter Ave. in 2022. This lovely new home near downtown is bright and spacious, allowing them to host live music on Saturday mornings, game nights, coffee tastings and other events.
This journey started several years ago as Rob and Sereta experienced different coffee in their travels across the United States and Europe. The duo savored their experiences and tried to recreate the tastes at home. When they decided they wanted to start another business, it was time for Rob to embark upon the act of living his passion.
Rob attended several roasting schools including the Diedrich Roaster manufacturing company’s roaster school in Sand Point, Idaho. As he travelled there and back, he took a spiritual quest where he spent time meditating and experiencing the wonders of this great planet. He came home to the farm he shared with Sereta with a plan to roast on site. What began as a small operation on their farm has grown into a full-service coffee shop & roasting house in the heart of Norman. There’s no other place nearby where you can get coffee this fresh, roasted right in front of you.
Rob, Sereta and Kate also own and operate Annie’s Ruff House Doggy Daycare & Boarding Studio and founded a dog rescue. They are very connected to their community, starting and serving on several important boards and organizations. They believe deeply in the philanthropic business model, and a portion of their profits go to the Annie’s Rescue Foundation angel fund that supports medical needs of animals in Norman’s municipal animal shelter.
